Dan Bortolotti

The blog’s author is Dan Bortolotti, CFP, CIM, portfolio manager and financial planner with PWL Capital in Toronto, where he and his colleagues manage portfolios using the same strategies described in this blog.

Dan is also a veteran journalist and author who has written about personal finance for many Canadian magazines, including MoneySense (where he was previously an editor and regular columnist), Canadian MoneySaver and Financial Post. Dan is also the author of Reboot Your Portfolio: 9 Steps to Successful Investing with ETFs, a complete guide to DIY index investing in Canada.

Dan has won numerous awards for his writing on personal finance. Just one year after it was launched in 2010, Canadian Couch Potato was selected by The Globe and Mail as the best investing blog in Canada. Dan’s feature writing in MoneySense won a National Magazine Award (Silver) in 2014, and he has been nominated for seven other NMAs since 2010. He was named Journalist of the Year by the CFA Society of Toronto in 2013 and again in 2017.

Dan has also received two Wealth Professional Awards from his industry peers: the TSX Private Markets Award for Outstanding Internet Presence in 2015, and the Horizons ETFs Award for ETF Champion of the Year in 2017.
